But even more than this there has been a fairytale ending to the romance taking place on the sidelines.

 For those of you who don’t know, the Spanish goalie Iker Casillas (Saint Iker as he is known here in some places) has been discreetly dating Tele 5 sports journalist Sara Carbonero, who incidentally was recently voted the world’s sexiest woman by FHM. But when Spain lost 1-0 to Switzerland she was accused by the British press of distracting the goalkeeper when he should have been concentrating on saving goals. The Times even went further than this by mistranslating her post-match interview of Casillas. The paper reported that she had asked him ‘How did you muck it up?’ when in fact her question was more along the lines of ‘What happened this evening?’.
